After 10 back-to-back ski seasons as an instructor in NZ and Austria, and a short stint building, Ernie opened Metalworks in 1997. A qualified fitter/welder with ten years experience, he rented a small corner of our present workshop, sharing the space with other local businesses such as Flying Trestles (great food and personnel) and Vehicle Testing NZ (doors wide open in winter for the testing) and Brian Johnson Electrical. All hard to imagine now!
